BEIRUT, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Three Hezbollah members were killed and two civilians wounded on Tuesday in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the village of Blida in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese military sources.

The sources, who spoke anonymously, told Xinhua that an Israeli warplane targeted a two-story house in the center of Blida with four air-to-ground missiles.

"The raid killed three Hezbollah members, wounded two civilians, destroyed the house, and caused extensive damage to five neighboring homes," they said.

"Civil defense vehicles transported the casualties to a hospital in southern Lebanon," they added.

According to the sources, the Israeli military carried out five air raids on four border towns and villages in southern Lebanon and shelled ten others with about 45 shells.

For its part, Hezbollah said its fighters targeted several Israeli military sites with missiles and drones.

Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon. Enditem
