BEIRUT -- An Israeli airstrike struck a building in the Jamous area of Dahieh, a suburb of Beirut, on Friday, killing at least eight people and injuring 59 others, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

FAIZABAD, Afghanistan -- Three miners of a gold mine lost their lives due to a mudslide in northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province on Thursday, Provincial Director for Information and Culture Hekmatullah Mohammadi said Friday.

KIEV -- The European Union (EU) will provide Ukraine with a new loan of up to 35 billion euros (about 39 billion U.S. dollars), European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Friday.

ANKARA -- Turkish police detained 88 suspected members of the Islamic State (IS) group, the country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Friday.
