NEW DELHI, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- At least four border guards belonging to India's paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) were wounded after a mortar shell exploded during a training exercise in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, multiple local media reports said Saturday.

The 51mm mortar shell exploded during a drill on Friday at Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer, about 505 km west of Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan.

"Four BSF personnel, including an instructor and three trainee constables, were injured after a 51mm mortar shell exploded prematurely during a drill at Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer on Friday," local newspaper Times of India said. "The injured were rushed to a government hospital in Pokhran and later referred to Jodhpur for treatment."
