BAGHDAD, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a Shiite militia group, claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Monday on the observatory base of the Israeli Golani Brigade "in the occupied territories."

The group said in a statement that the attack was executed "in solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip" and pledged to continue targeting "the enemy's strongholds."

The statement did not provide further details on the attacked site or report any casualties.

On Sunday, the group fired multiple drone and missile attacks on Israeli targets as tensions between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah were rising sharply.

Since the onset of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has conducted many attacks on Israeli and U.S. targets in the region to support Palestinians in Gaza. Enditem
