BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 jolted Izu Islands, Japan region at 2314 GMT on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 11.7 km, was initially determined to be at 31.55 degrees north latitude and 140.06 degrees east longitude.

Japan has issued a tsunami advisory to residents of Izu and Ogasawara islands after the quake. Enditem
