JERUSALEM -- Herzi Halevi, chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), said on Monday that Israel was preparing for "the next phases" after launching large-scale airstrikes in Lebanon earlier in the day.

"This morning, the IDF launched a proactive offensive operation," Halevi said during a situational assessment at the IDF Headquarters Underground Operations Center in Tel Aviv. (Israel-Lebanon-Conflict)

MOSCOW -- Russia will refrain from conducting nuclear tests as long as the United States does the same, Tass reported Monday citing Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

Ryabkov noted that while Moscow has the capability to conduct nuclear tests, it will refrain from doing so as stated earlier by the Russian president, provided that Washington will do the same. (Russia-Nuclear test)

GAZA -- At least 10 Palestinians were killed in Israeli shelling of a school sheltering displaced people and a residential house in the central Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources on Monday.

Eyewitnesses told Xinhua that Israeli warplanes targeted the Khalid bin al-Walid school in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the center of the Gaza Strip. The Civil Defense in Gaza stated that the bombing killed five people and injured several others with varying degrees of injury, all of whom were taken to the hospital. (Gaza Strip-Palestine-Israel)

KHARTOUM -- At least 15 people were killed and 61 others injured in an artillery attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a crowded civilian market in Omdurman city, north of the capital Khartoum, Khartoum State's Health Ministry announced on Monday.
