BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Argentina's River Plate advanced to the Copa Libertadores semifinals on Tuesday with a 1-0 home victory over Chilean side Colo-Colo.

Facundo Colidio gave the hosts the lead in the 16th minute by volleying home from inside the six-yard box after a superb one-touch pass from Santiago Simon.

The result at Estadio Monumental followed a 1-1 draw in last week's first leg in Santiago.

"The Copa Libertadores is special, our biggest objective," River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo told a post-match news conference.

"Our priority was always to try to progress far as possible in this competition. Today we took a big step toward our goal and we hope to continue in this fashion."

River Plate are aiming to win the Copa Libertadores - South America's premier club competition - for a fifth time. Enditem
