TASHKENT, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan will carry out a program to lift 1.5 million people out of poverty by the end of 2025, local media reported Wednesday, citing a presidential decree.

According to the decree issued Monday, measures will be taken to "reduce poverty and increase the welfare of the population to a new level."

Under the "From Poverty to Prosperity" program, a state target fund will be established. One thousand neighborhoods will see their infrastructure improved, and low-income families will be registered to receive assistance from Dec. 1 this year.

Meanwhile, 14,000 heads of local organizations and their deputies will be allocated five low-income families every six months to provide help, according to the program. Enditem
