VIENTIANE -- Representatives from the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) met here to discuss finalizing the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Post-2025 Strategic Plan.

They gathered in Lao capital Vientiane from Monday to Tuesday for the seventh meeting of the Ad-Hoc Working Group to develop the ASCC Post-2025 Strategic Plan, Lao News Agency reported on Wednesday. (Laos-ASEAN-ASCC)

PHNOM PENH -- The 21st China-ASEAN Expo is expected to add fresh momentum into the development of China-ASEAN economic and trade relations, a Cambodian scholar said on Wednesday.

ISLAMABAD -- Twelve people including two policemen were injured in a bomb attack on a police vehicle in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Wednesday, official sources said.

The incident happened in the provincial capital city Quetta, and two of the wounded people are in critical condition, Waseem Baig, media coordinator of the provincial health ministry told Xinhua. (Pakistan-Bomb Blast)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's President Anura Kumara Dissanayake dissolved the parliament through an extraordinary gazette notification Tuesday midnight.

The gazette has fixed the parliamentary election for Nov. 14 and the new parliament will meet for the first time on Nov. 21. (Sri Lanka-Parliament)

MANILA -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has slightly lowered its gross domestic product (GDP) forecast for Southeast Asia this year to 4.5 percent from 4.6 percent projected in April, but maintained its 2025 forecast at 4.7 percent, according to its updated Asian Development Outlook released Wednesday.

The latest report said weaker growth in Myanmar, Thailand, and Timor-Leste drags the region's growth forecast for 2024. (ADB-Southeast Asia-Growth Forecast)

VIENTIANE -- The 56th ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting and related meetings concluded with the adoption of several agreements and priority plans to pave the way for future development.

The meetings, which took place in Lao capital Vientiane from Sept. 16 to 22, saw ministers discuss priority economic deliverables and take stock of the progress on a range of economic initiatives.
