SOFIA, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The "Robotics Strategy Forum 2024" was held on Thursday at Sofia Tech Park for the sixth consecutive year, continuing its mission to boost innovation in robotics and autonomous technologies.

According to its organizers, the event brought together a diverse array of Bulgarian and international experts, companies, and emerging talents to explore key topics such as automation, industrial innovation, and robotics.

An accompanying exhibition featured 30 companies, and educational and scientific institutions, showcasing cutting-edge solutions in electronics, automation, drones, and educational technology.

At the opening ceremony, Ivan Goychev, Sofia's deputy mayor for digitization, innovation and economic development, emphasized the significance of sectors like robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI) for Bulgaria, saying such industries could exponentially enhance the country's potential.

Yonko Chuklev, deputy chairperson and board member of the Professional Association of Robotics, Automation and Innovations (PARAi), told Xinhua that this forum aims to draw attention to the underdevelopment of technology in Bulgaria, and can serve as a catalyst for further progress in this sector.

Professor Nayden Shivarov, director of Bulgaria's national STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) center, reflected on the country's history in robotics production and said that under the country's Recovery and Resilience Plan, nearly 500 public schools in Bulgaria have chosen to build their STEM center in the field of robotics, and 1,500 in mathematics and informatics.

Participants in the exhibition included software development companies like ICT Strypes. Its senior employer branding specialist Plamen Beshkov said his company aimed to showcase its accomplishments in robotics and engage with young, ambitious talents interested in information technology.

Another exhibitor, a technical high school from Burgas, presented an innovative student-built robot capable of jumping and running.

Organized by the PARAi in partnership with the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises, the forum not only gathered a lineup of distinguished speakers providing insights into the development of automation, industrial innovations, and robotics, but also featured competitions specifically designed for young talent.
