JERUSALEM/BEIRUT -- Israeli warplanes continued their deadly airstrikes across Lebanon for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a clear rejection of a ceasefire proposal advanced by the United States and France.

The Israeli military stated that its drones targeted rocket launchers in southern Lebanon responsible for attacks on Israeli targets. KHARTOUM -- Sudan's army launched a significant offensive on Thursday against rival paramilitary forces in the capital, Khartoum, marking its most substantial effort in months to regain control of the city, according to military sources and witnesses.

Heavy fighting was reported in central Khartoum and its neighboring cities of Omdurman and Bahri, with eyewitnesses noting air strikes, artillery fire, and clashes involving light and medium weapons. TRIPOLI -- Representatives of the Libyan High Council of State and the House of Representatives on Thursday signed an agreement, sponsored by the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), to end a crisis related to the central bank governance.

According to Stephanie Koury, UNSMIL officer-in-charge, the agreement provides for consultations by the High Council of State and appointment of the governor and deputy governor by the House of Representatives within one week from the signing of the agreement, and a board of directors to be appointed within two weeks from the appointment of the governor.
