NEW DELHI, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Three Naxal commanders were killed in a five-day-long fierce gunfight with government forces in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said Friday.

The gunfight between Naxals and joint contingents of the paramilitary and police began on Sept. 22, according to police.

The government forces have not suffered any damage in the gunbattle, the police said, adding that one AK-47, two SLR rifles, and other arms and ammunition have also been recovered.

Reports said since the beginning of this year, 160 Naxals have been killed in separate gunfights with government forces in the state.

Currently, Naxals are active across the central and eastern parts of India. Enditem
