TEHRAN, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran's flag carrier Iran Air said Saturday that all its flights to the Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport, located in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, had been canceled until further notice.

Iran Air Spokesman Hesam Qorbanali announced the flight cancellation in an interview with the official news agency IRNA, adding the time for resumption of the flights would be announced later.

The announcement came as an Iranian civilian plane, earlier in the day, was reportedly prevented from landing at the Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport or entering Lebanese airspace after Israel threatened to use "force" against it.

No further details were provided on the incident.

It occurred amid ongoing intensive Israeli strikes on Hezbollah's headquarters and strongholds. Israel Defense Forces claimed earlier in the day that the army killed Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in airstrikes on Dahieh, the southern suburbs of Beirut, on Friday. Nasrallah's death was also confirmed by Hezbollah. Enditem
