BEIRUT, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- A Lebanese security source confirmed to Xinhua on Sunday that Nabil Qaouk, a senior Hezbollah official, was killed in an Israeli raid on Beirut's southern suburbs on Saturday.
"Qaouk was a member of Hezbollah's central council and had been leading the group's preventive security unit for some time," the source added, requesting anonymity.
In a statement earlier in the day, Israel's military said that it had killed Qaouk in a bombing in Beirut's southern suburbs on Saturday.
Hezbollah has not yet issued any confirmation about Qaouk's death.
Qaouk, 60, was the latest senior Hezbollah figure attacked in a series of Israeli airstrikes in the Lebanese capital, following the Israeli killing of the group's top leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and several other Hezbollah commanders on Friday. Enditem
