BAGHDAD, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a Shiite militia group, claimed responsibility on Sunday for a series of drone and missile attacks targeting Israeli sites.
In separate statements, the group reported launching two drone attacks on key locations in the southern port city of Eilat, deploying a swarm of drones against two separate targets in Israel, and firing missiles at two other sites.
The group did not specify the targeted locations or report any casualties.
These attacks followed recent Israeli airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which resulted in the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Since the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has conducted multiple strikes against Israeli and U.S. targets in the region to demonstrate its support for Palestinians in Gaza.
The group has intensified its operations amid ongoing Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon. Enditem
