Laos logs trade deficit of 129 mln USD in August

VIENTIANE, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Laos logged a trade deficit of 129 million U.S. dollars in August, according to the latest figures from the Lao Trade Portal website.

Laos' exports during August were worth 541 million U.S. dollars, while the value of imports was 670 million U.S. dollars, according to the latest report from the website.

The country's leading exports included electric equipment, mixed gold, rubber, paper, copper ore, wood shaving, sugar, salt, cassava flour and cassava.

The main imports included diesel, mechanical equipment, land vehicles, finished chemical products, electrical appliances, steel, plastic products, vehicle spare parts, gasoline, and beverages.

Vietnam, China and Thailand are among the leading export destinations for Lao products. Meanwhile, major import sources to Laos included Thailand, China and Vietnam, according to the report. Enditem
