ZAGREB, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Croatia's tourism revenues reached a record high of 4.13 billion euros (4.58 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of this year (H1), marking a 7.5 percent increase compared to the same period of last year, according to the Croatian National Bank.

Foreign tourist revenues in the second quarter totaled 3.31 billion euros, a 4.36 percent increase from the same period of last year, according to a report from the bank.

Croatia's Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonci Glavina attributed the strong financial results to the success of recent tourism reforms that have helped position the country as a top year-round destination.

"We are pleased that the financial indicators confirm our position as a year-round destination," Glavina was quoted by local media as saying. "Following another record-breaking pre-season in terms of tourism results, we are now seeing record revenue from foreign tourists."

As Croatia embraces new tourism management strategies, the ministry anticipates "even stronger growth" in the sector.

According to the eVisitor system, which tracks tourist arrivals in Croatia, the country recorded over 7.2 million arrivals and 28.1 million overnight stays in H1 of 2024. This represents a 7 percent growth in arrivals and a 3 percent rise in overnight stays compared with the same period in 2023.
