GRINDELWALD, Switzerland, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- A group of special guests gathered on Tuesday at the Jungfraujoch, over 3,000 meters high in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, to launch ticket sales for the 14th UEFA Women's EURO 2025.

Outside the Jungfrau railway station, located at nearly 3,500 meters in altitude, a simple court was set up on a massive glacier. There, the Swiss women's football team, along with players from England, Germany, Denmark, and other teams, played an exhibition match amid icy rain and clouds.

The qualifying tournament began in April, and the 15 teams joining host Switzerland will be decided through the tournament in December.

The UEFA Women's EURO 2025 will take place from July 2-27, 2025, in eight Swiss cities: Geneva, Zurich, Bern, Lucerne, Basel, St. Gallen, Sion, and Thun. This event marks the first time Switzerland is hosting the UEFA Women's EURO. The nation previously co-hosted the European Championship with Austria in 2008.

The slogan proposed by Switzerland for the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 is "Top of Emotions." It reflects not only the excitement of the competition but also the significance of holding the launch at Jungfraujoch, which has an altitude of over 4,000 meters and has been called the "Top of Europe."

The UEFA Women's EURO is a premier competition among women's football teams from UEFA members. Established in 1982, it is held every four years.

The 13th UEFA Women's EURO, originally set for 2021, was postponed to 2022 in Britain due to the impact of COVID-19. Enditem
