Inflation of Bangladesh eases in September

DHAKA, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh inflation decreased to 9.92 percent in September from 10.49 percent in August, according to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The Consumer Price Index released by the BBS showed that food inflation declined to 10.40 percent in September from 11.36 percent in August.

On the other hand, inflation in the non-food sector has also come down slightly.

Inflation in this sector was 9.74 percent in August, which decreased to 9.50 percent in September, the data showed.

The country's average inflation surged to 9.73 percent in the fiscal year 2023-24 (July 2023-June 2024), much higher than the budgetary target of 7.5 percent. Enditem
