DAMASCUS -- Two people were killed and several others injured on Wednesday when an Israeli airstrike targeted a three-story building in the Mazzeh Western Villas neighborhood of Damascus, the capital of Syria, according to local reports. (Syria-Strike)

BAGHDAD -- Four soldiers were killed and three others wounded on Wednesday in an attack by Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq's northern province of Kirkuk, according to the Iraqi Interior Ministry.

An army force was ambushed by IS militants at 10:00 a.m. local time (0700 GMT) while conducting a reconnaissance and inspection operation in the western part of Kirkuk, ministry spokesman Muqdad Miri said in a statement. (Iraq-IS Ambush-Death Toll)

SANAA -- At least 45 people have died and 111 others went missing after smugglers forced migrants returning from Yemen off two vessels in the open sea near Djibouti, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported Wednesday.

The incident off the coast of Djibouti's Obock town involved two boats transporting migrants returning from Yemen, the IOM said on its website. (Yemen-Migrants Drowning)

BEIRUT -- Israeli troops crossed the Lebanese border on Wednesday, advancing towards the villages of Adaisseh and Maroun al-Ras in southern Lebanon, a Lebanese security source told Xinhua.

"The Israeli army opened an iron gate positioned on the concrete wall erected on the borderline separating Lebanon and Israel and advanced about 200 meters towards the eastern entrance of Adaisseh," said the security source. (Lebanon-Israel-Conflict) Enditem
