Russia sees 37 pct rise in new car sales in September

MOSCOW, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Russia's new passenger car sales reached 150,900 units in September, a year-on-year increase of 37 percent, according to data from Russia's analytical agency Autostat on Thursday.

The sales were the highest monthly figure in almost 3.5 years, with the previous record set at 171,500 cars in April 2021, Autostat noted.

Five brands made up over 65 percent of car sales in September. Lada continues to lead the market, while Haval, Chery, Geely, and Changan also exceed sales of 10,000 units each.

From January to September, 1,154,800 new cars were sold in Russia, a 61 percent year-on-year rise. Enditem
