BEIRUT -- Two people were killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike on Saturday evening targeting a residential building in Jiyeh, a seaside town located 30 kilometers south of Beirut, local TV channel MTV reported.

The airstrike hit a three-story building in the Nabi Younes neighborhood, and the explosion was heard across much of Beirut and in Sidon, the capital of Lebanon's South Governorate. PARUN, Afghanistan -- At least seven people, including women and children, lost their lives when a passenger car plunged into a ravine in eastern Afghanistan's Nuristan province, a local official said on Saturday.

The incident happened after the car tumbled off a road and fell into the ravine in the province's Doab district, killing seven commuters on the spot and injuring eight others, Ghulam Rahman Haidari, spokesman for the provincial police, told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Car Accident)

ROME -- Several thousand pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered in Rome on Saturday, calling for an immediate end to fighting and a ceasefire.

Starting in the morning, demonstrators convened in the Ostiense neighborhood in southern Rome despite having no official authorization. Many were holding Palestinian and Lebanese flags and chanting slogans. (Italy-Protest)

CAIRO -- Egypt sent 22 tons of humanitarian aid to Lebanon, the Egyptian foreign ministry announced on Saturday.
