BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Haji Abdul Manaf, Brunei's minister of primary resources and tourism, called for a whole-nation effort to boost tourism on Wednesday, according to a local media report.

The development of the tourism sector is not only the responsibility of the Tourism Development Department but also requires the cooperation and commitment of both private and public sectors, the local daily Borneo Bulletin quoted the minister.

Brunei is an oil-rich country located in the northern part of Borneo Island. In recent years, the Sultanate has been committed to promoting economic diversification, especially in tourism, agriculture, international trade, and other non-oil and gas sectors. Enditem
