BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The largest bank in Brunei, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), has alerted the public to a recent rise in auto-recorded phone scams, according to local media.

According to the local media outlet Borneo Bulletin, the BIBD urged the public to exercise caution regarding call scams and to refrain from engaging with automated prompts.

"Never disclose personal details such as your bank account information, PIN, passwords, or other sensitive information over the phone," the bank stated.

The BIBD noted that these scams are part of a larger trend of fraudulent activities exploiting technology to target unsuspecting victims, as reported by the Borneo Bulletin.

Brunei is an oil-rich Southeast Asian country, with about 340,000 citizens and a high level of social welfare. Enditem
