CAIRO, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi called on Tuesday for an immediate and urgent ceasefire in both the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
The Egyptian Presidency said in a statement that Sisi made the remarks during a phone conversation with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.
During the call, the two leaders discussed regional developments and ways to de-escalate tensions in the area.
Sisi warned of the grave consequences of the ongoing escalation for all the peoples of the region and for their aspirations for stability and development.
For his part, the Cypriot president stressed his country's willingness to support all efforts to promote peace and security.
The two presidents also emphasized their countries' commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation, particularly in economy, energy, and electrical connectivity. Enditem
