VIENTIANE, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The 28th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council (APSC) meeting opened in Lao capital Vientiane on Tuesday to review the progress made in implementing the APSC Blueprint 2025.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the APSC Blueprint 2025, noting that 99.6 percent of its action lines have been successfully implemented, while there is an action line that needs to be addressed and implemented within 2025.
The meeting highlighted the significant work and activities undertaken by various sectoral bodies under the APSC pillar throughout 2024, guided by Laos' chairmanship of ASEAN. These included the outcomes of and activities conducted under the ASEAN Defense Minister's Meeting, ASEAN Defense Minister's Meeting Plus, ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime, ASEAN Regional Forum, ASEAN Network of Regulatory Bodies on Atomic Energy, ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights, and other APSC mechanisms.
The meeting also took note of the annual report for 2023 from the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation, reinforcing the commitment of ASEAN member states to promote peace and security in the region. Enditem
