ISLAMABAD, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- A soldier and two terrorists were killed when the Pakistani security forces thwarted a terrorist attack in the country's southwestern Balochistan province on Wednesday, the military said in a statement.

The incident happened in Zhob district where a group of terrorists tried to attack a check post of paramilitary troops frontier corps, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army's media wing said in the statement.

The security forces successfully repelled the attempted attack, killing two terrorists, including a suicide bomber who was also a high-value target, the statement added.

A soldier who came from Balochistan was killed during the clash, the ISPR said.

The suicide bomber was involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces as well as innocent civilians, it added.

A clearance operation is being conducted to neutralize any other terrorists present in the area. Enditem
