JAKARTA -- Indonesia has established two new Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to boost investment, an official said in a statement on Thursday.

The inauguration of the two new SEZs, located in the provinces of Banten and Riau Islands, was signed by President Joko Widodo on Monday.

The new SEZ in Banten will focus on research, the digital economy, and educational, health, and creative industries. Meanwhile, the new SEZ in Riau Islands will concentrate on international health tourism. (Indonesia-Economic Zones)

BANGKOK -- Thailand's consumer confidence fell for the seventh successive month in September, reaching the lowest record in 17 months, due to concerns over slow economic growth and flooding situations in several areas, a survey showed on Thursday.

According to the survey of 2,243 respondents conducted by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the consumer confidence index dropped to 55.3 last month from 56.5 in August as all components of the index decreased. (Thailand-Consumer Confidence)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lankan economy has stabilized with growth expected to reach 4.4 percent in 2024, surpassing earlier forecasts, according to the World Bank on Thursday.

The World Bank's bi-annual Sri Lanka development update titled "Opening Up to the Future," cautioned that the recovery remains fragile and hinges on maintaining macroeconomic stability, successfully restructuring debt and continuing structural reforms to increase medium-term growth and reduce poverty.
