BRATISLAVA, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini appointed Kamil Sasko as the new health minister Thursday.
Sasko, the former state secretary at the country's Ministry of the Economy, will take over from Zuzana Dolinkova.
Dolinkova announced her resignation last week, saying she felt unsupported in pursuing her goal of improving the healthcare sector.
Following the new appointment, Pellegrini said that the health ministry is the department where ministers have changed most frequently since Slovakia became independent on Jan. 1, 1993.
This proves that it is "an extremely demanding ministry," said the president.
Pellegrini also thanked Dolinkova for her work, adding that she had dealt with comprehensive issues during her time at the health ministry.
Dolinkova took office in October last year, as part of the cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Robert Fico. Enditem
