ULAN BATOR, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia exported a total of 59.1 million tons of coal in the first three quarters of this year, official data showed on Friday.

The figure represented a 1.3-fold increase compared to the same period last year.

Coal is a key export commodity for Mongolia, a country rich in natural resources. During the January-September period, coal constituted 56.5 percent of the country's total exports, underscoring its vital role in the national economy.

Mongolia set a goal of exporting at least 60 million tons of coal this year, which has been revised to 75 million tons.

In 2023, Mongolia exported a record 66.7 million tons of coal. Enditem
