PHNOM PENH, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia has exported a total of 445,913 tons of milled rice in the first nine months of 2024, making total revenue of 335.4 million U.S. dollars, the Cambodia Rice Federation said in a news release on Monday.
Fifty-four companies have shipped milled rice to 65 countries and regions during the January-September period this year, the news release said, adding that China was still one of the key buyers of the commodity.
The kingdom exported 81,423 tons of milled rice to China during the above-mentioned period, earning gross revenue of 52.63 million dollars, the news release said.
Rice varieties the Southeast Asian country exported included fragrant rice, white rice, parboiled rice, and organic rice.
Im Rachna, an undersecretary of state and spokeswoman for Cambodia's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said China is one of the key markets for Cambodian agricultural products.
"The purchase of our agricultural products by China and other friendly countries have significantly contributed to the development of Cambodia's agriculture and brought a lot of benefits to our people, especially farmers," she told Xinhua.
Apart from milled rice, China has bought potential agricultural produce from Cambodia such as yellow bananas, mangoes, cassava, longans, and peppercorns, among others. Enditem
