YANGON -- Eight people were killed, three injured, and one is missing after an oil vessel caught fire in southern Myanmar's Taninthayi Region on Monday, according to local fire service department on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 4:34 p.m. local time on Monday at a port in Dawei Township of Taninthayi Region, while an oil tanker was refilling another oil storage vessel, and the oil storage vessel caught fire, the department said. (Myanmar-Fire)

SEOUL -- South Korea's military fires south of the inter-Korean border after Seoul claimed that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) exploded part of roads connected to South Korea, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said Tuesday.

The JCS said in a statement that the DPRK military carried out detonations for the presumed purpose of blockading roads on the DPRK side of the western Gyeongui and the eastern Donghae lines, north of the military demarcation line (MDL), at around 12:00 p.m. local time (0300 GMT). SYDNEY -- Three people have been hospitalized after a chemical explosion at the University of Sydney on Tuesday.

Fire and Rescue New South Wales said in a statement that emergency crews were called to the University of Sydney Sports Aquatic Center in the inner-city suburb of Darlington at around 10 a.m. local time on Tuesday after receiving reports of a person suffering from chemical burns. JAKARTA -- A fire engulfed dozens of houses in West Jakarta early Tuesday, killing two families, an official said.
