UNDP pledges to support Sri Lanka's national priorities for sustainable development

COLOMBO, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Tuesday pledged to support Sri Lanka's national priorities towards attaining sustainable development.

Visiting UNDP Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Kanni Wignaraja said she pledged support in the areas of economic and governance reforms, accountability, innovative financing, digital transformation, public sector modernization and protection of the most vulnerable communities in the country.

According to the UNDP, Wignaraja met with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya during her one-day mission in the country on Monday.

She reiterated the UNDP's policy and technical offers, with a particular focus on women, youth and rural farmers exposed to multiple shocks of the economy, disasters and climate change, according to the UNDP. Enditem
