KABUL, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan caretaker government's national procurement commission has endorsed 124 projects worth about 525 million U.S. dollars over the past six months, the office of the acting deputy prime minister for economic affairs said in a statement on Wednesday.

The projects included the construction and restoration of highways, rural roads, water canals, water reservoir dams, health centers, airports, railways, water supply networks, retaining walls, agricultural projects, progressing educational systems, and telecommunication and internet services throughout the country, the statement added.

Implementation of these projects is expected to provide job opportunities to thousands of people in the impoverished Asian country.

The Afghan caretaker government has planned to launch more development and infrastructure projects on its domestic budget across the war-ravaged country to tackle economic challenges and create more jobs. Enditem
