HANOI, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports in September reached 917 million U.S. dollars, a single-month record, local media reported, citing the General Department of Customs on Wednesday.

The exports in September increased nearly 9 percent compared to August and 37 percent compared to the same period last year, said the report.

Vietnam earned 5.64 billion dollars from exporting fruits and vegetables in the first nine months of 2024, up 34 percent year on year and exceeding the previous record of the whole of 2023, according to the customs figures.

The Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said the records had been made largely thanks to the contribution of durian exports to the Chinese market.

It is predicted that Vietnamese durian exports to all markets, mainly to China, will reach 3.5 billion dollars this year.

Other promising fruits that could bring high values of exports are banana, jackfruit, mango, watermelon, lemon and passion fruit. Enditem
