BUDAPEST, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Hungarian government is set to launch a national consultation on its new economic policy, following recommendations from the ruling Fidesz party.
The consultation will cover pressing economic issues, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, wage increases, and family support measures, Gergely Gulyas, the minister leading the Prime Minister's Office, said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Fidesz parliamentary group leader Mate Kocsis first proposed the consultation during the party's recent two-day meeting in Esztergom, citing the need for public input amid geopolitical tensions.
Kocsis said that Hungary must adopt new tools and solutions to maintain its economic stability and growth.
He said that while the country's current economic outlook is positive, new measures are necessary to ensure further prosperity for Hungarian citizens.
National consultations have been a regular practice since the Fidesz party took office in 2010. The last national consultation was conducted in November 2023. Enditem
