ISTANBUL, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- A rocket deflected by fighting on the Syrian side landed in a mined area on Türkiye's southeastern border on Wednesday, local authorities announced.

The governor's office of Kilis province reported that the incident occurred around 5:53 p.m. local time (1453 GMT) during a conflict between two Syrian groups across from Akinci village in Kilis.

It said an RPG-7 rocket struck the mined area, igniting a fire in the surrounding vegetation.

The office also noted that "there has been no attack directed at Kilis in this incident." Enditem
