Train derails in northeast India, passengers safe

NEW DELHI, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Eight coaches of a passenger train derailed in India's northeastern state of Assam on Thursday, with no major human injuries reported, confirmed an official of the Indian Railways.

The incident occurred at Dibalong railway station near Lumding town in Assam.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma posted on X the train derailed at Dibalong station near Lumding at 15:55 and that there had been no major casualty or injury and all passengers were safe.

The derailed passenger train is a superfast fully air-conditioned express train connecting Agartala and Mumbai. Enditem
