BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Colombian striker Miguel Borja converted a second-half penalty to earn River Plate a 1-1 home draw with leaders Velez Sarsfield in Argentina's Primera Division on Friday.
Braian Romero put his side ahead in the 26th minute before Borja slotted his spot-kick past goalkeeper Tomas Marchiore after Romero handled inside the area.
River are now seventh in the 20-team standings with 26 points, 11 points behind leaders Velez.
"Today we faced a Velez who are top of the league for a reason," Gallardo said. "They were hard to breakdown but in the second half we fund more space."
In Friday's other Primera Division fixtures, Independiente won 2-0 at Lanus, Central Cordoba prevailed 2-0 over Independiente and Sarmiento were held to a 1-1 home draw with Gimnasia. Enditem
