BERLIN, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich is offering international under-19 talents the chance to pursue their dreams of becoming professional footballers through its "FC Bayern World Squad" initiative, set to return for its fifth edition in the summer of 2025. The Bundesliga powerhouse is inviting young players born in 2007 and 2008 to apply by submitting a 90-second video showcasing their skills.

"We are pleased with how the project has evolved over the years. The FC Bayern World Squad has gained global recognition, and we've discovered hidden talents, offering them a unique opportunity to take their next step in football," said Jochen Sauer, head of Bayern's youth academy.

Bayern's Vice-CEO Michael Diederich called the initiative "a flagship project that provides a unique platform for talents to prove themselves," while also promoting international cultural exchange, a key aspect of the club's ethos.

The program has a strong track record, with five participants already transitioning into professional football. Among them are Viktor Orakpo, now playing for Nice, and Viktor Baier, who signed with Viktoria Plzen. In its second year, Nigerian talent Daniel Francis earned a contract with Bayern and is currently on loan at Klagenfurt, with a buy-back option.

Under the guidance of former Bayern striker Roy Makaay, who became head coach in the project's third year, the World Squad has achieved impressive results, winning five of six matches. Three more players signed professional deals after last season, including Siam Yapp at Buriram United in Thailand, Orakpo at Nice, and Baier at Viktoria Plzen.

The 2025 training camp will culminate with a friendly match between the newly selected World Squad and Bayern's under-19 team. Beyond its on-field success, the project is also known for its social outreach at the training camp locations, furthering Bayern's commitment to global development. Enditem
