NEW DELHI -- At least 12 people, including eight children and two women, died, and several others were injured in a road accident in India's western state of Rajasthan on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, confirmed local police over the phone.

The road mishap occurred in the state's Dholpur area when a bus rammed into the vehicle carrying the victims. The bus was moving at a high speed from Dholpur towards the state capital, Jaipur. (India-Road-Accident)

JAKARTA -- Indonesia's former army general, Prabowo Subianto, was sworn in as the country's eighth president on Sunday morning at the parliament building, succeeding Joko Widodo, who led the world's fourth most populous nation for the past decade.

JAKARTA -- A plane of Indonesia's local carrier SAM Air crashed in Gorontalo province, Sulawesi island, on Sunday, killing all four people on board, local media reported.

"The PK SMH type aircraft crashed after losing contact with Makassar AirNav officers. The plane departed from Djalaluddin Gorontalo Airport at 7:30 a.m., heading to Bumi Panua Pohuwato Airport. However, it lost contact and was reported to have crashed near the Bumi Panua Pohuwato Airport," Head of the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Office, Heriyanto, said in a release as quoted by local media. SINGAPORE -- The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) reported an oil leakage from a Shell land-based pipeline between Bukom Island and Bukom Kecil on Sunday.

Shell has placed containment booms off the leak site and deployed craft equipped with dispersants to clean up the oil, MPA noted. (Singapore-Environment-Oil leak) Enditem
