DAMASCUS -- A suspected Israeli drone strike hit a vehicle in the Mazzeh neighborhood west of the capital Damascus on Monday, burning the car and killing its occupants, Syrian state media reported.

Syrian state television said the attack was an act of "aggression." The targeted vehicle was located in the western part of the capital, near the Ministry of Information. (Syria-Israeli Drone Strike-Casualty)

HANOI -- Luong Cuong, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and permanent member of the CPV Central Committee Secretariat, was elected as Vietnam's president on Monday, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The ongoing 8th session of the 15th-tenure National Assembly (NA) elected Cuong as president for the tenure until 2026. All 440 deputies present at the meeting, equivalent to 91.67 percent of the total number of NA deputies, voted in favor of Cuong as president. (Vietnam-President)

STUTTGART, Germany -- German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday spoke out against protectionist measures that could harm international cooperation, underscoring that "protectionism and trade wars are detrimental to us."
