JAKARTA, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's newly-inaugurated President Prabowo Subianto aims to strengthen the country's manufacturing sector as part of efforts to achieve an 8 percent economic growth target over the next five years, a minister said on Tuesday.

"We will create a roadmap to support the manufacturing sector in driving economic growth to 7-8 percent. This roadmap will be developed over the next three years," said Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta.

He added that the government would prioritize key subsectors, including electronics, textiles, automotive, chemicals, medical equipment, and pharmaceuticals. Furthermore, Indonesia may implement incentive policies for manufacturing, especially in pioneering industrial sectors.

"Our downstream industry will also expand beyond minerals into other sectors," Kartasasmita said.

Prabowo aims to achieve 8 percent economic growth within five years, a key step toward positioning Indonesia as a high-income country by 2045. Enditem
