NEW DELHI, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Multiple schools run by India's paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) across the country received emails threatening they would be bombed, local media reports said Tuesday.

The emails received Monday night triggered panic in all such schools including in Delhi.

"Nitrate based Improvised EDs (explosive devices) in listed school rooms," read the email according to a media report.

The email sender asked to evacuate all schools before 11:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

However, the threats proved to be hoaxes.

On Sunday morning a strong blast ripped through a boundary wall of the CRPF school in Rohini's Prashant Vihar area in New Delhi. Though no one was hurt in the blast, the explosion damaged signboards, hoardings of nearby shops and window panes of vehicles parked near the spot.

The bomb threats to CRPF schools came at a time when hoax threats to Indian flights have already triggered chaos. Reports said since Oct. 14 over 100 flights have received such threats, following which some flights were diverted. On Monday night 30 flights received similar threats, followed by threats to 10 others on Tuesday, reports said. Enditem
