JERUSALEM -- The Israeli military confirmed on Tuesday that Hashem Safieddine, the head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, was killed in an airstrike on Beirut three weeks ago.

Safieddine was killed in a bombing carried out by Israeli warplanes on Beirut's southern suburb, the military said in a statement. The attack targeted a building where, according to Israel, Hezbollah's main underground intelligence headquarters were located. (Israel-Hezbollah Leader-Killing)

GAZA -- At least 18 people were killed on Tuesday in Israeli attacks in the northern Gaza Strip as Israel continues its military operation in the area, according to Palestinian sources.

Palestinian medics told Xinhua that three Palestinians were killed and dozens injured when an Israeli warplane targeted a shelter in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip. (Gaza-Israeli Attacks-Casualty)

KHARTOUM -- At least 31 people were killed in an airstrike targeting a mosque in Wad Madani, the capital city of Gezira State in central Sudan, a local non-governmental group announced on Tuesday.

On Sunday, "warplanes bombarded after the evening prayer the Sheikh El Jeili mosque and surrounding areas in the Al-Imtidad neighborhood with explosive barrels," the Wad Madani resistance committee said in a statement. (Sudan-Airstrike-Death Toll)

KUWAIT CITY -- Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday that neighboring countries have assured Iran they will not allow the use of their territories in any potential attacks against the country.

Speaking at a press conference in Kuwait, Araghchi said, "We have received reassurances from our neighboring countries that they will not permit the use of their territories or airspace for any possible attack on Iran." (Kuwait-Iran-Regional Tension) Enditem
