WINDHOEK, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Veterans Cricket Association of Namibia will host the Over 50s Africa Cup, a quadrangular tournament featuring hosts Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and South Africa A.
The tournament, which will be held in Namibia's capital, Windhoek, will feature eight 45-over matches scheduled from November 17 to 21.
The matches will be held at three premier venues: FNB Namibia Cricket Ground, Wanderers Sports Club, and United Sports Club.
The Over 50s tournaments are a special platform for seasoned players aged 50 and above, to remain involved in the game and continue playing competitive cricket.
In a statement on Wednesday, Cricket Namibia said it is pleased with the Veterans Cricket Association of Namibia, bringing this level of competitive cricket to Namibian soil.
"This initiative aligns with Cricket Namibia's commitment to delivering high-quality cricket into the country," the governing body said.
Meanwhile, Namibia has announced a 14-man squad with Dawie Hartzenberg as the captain and Chris Freeman as the coach.
After the Africa Cup, the Over-50 World Cup will be played in Sri Lanka in February 2025. England's Over-50 team currently holds the title of the World Cup. Enditem
