ISLAMABAD, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Ten terrorists were killed during an operation in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police said.
The CTD personnel conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Mianwali district of the province on the reported presence of 10-15 terrorists in the area, the CTD officials told media on Thursday.
During the operation, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the CTD team, forcing officials to return the fire and killing them on the spot, while several other terrorists managed to escape from the scene, the officials said, adding that a search operation has been launched for the arrest of the fleeing terrorists.
The CTD also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the hideout of the terrorists.
Earlier, Pakistani security forces killed nine terrorists in an intelligence-based operation conducted in Bajaur district of the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Enditem
