TEHRAN/JERUSALEM -- Israel said Saturday that it had completed waves of pre-dawn airstrikes on military targets in Iran in what it called a retaliatory move to recent months of attacks from Iran, with Iran reporting that it had successfully countered the Israeli assault.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement early Saturday that it launched "precise and targeted" air strikes on targets in several areas in Iran, including missile manufacturing facilities, surface-to-air missile arrays, and additional Iranian aerial capabilities. ANKARA -- At least 17 members of the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) were "neutralized" on Saturday by Turkish forces in northern Syria, according to Türkiye's Defense Ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said the YPG members were "neutralized" in the zones covered by Operation Euphrates Shield and Operation Peace Spring and Manbij regions in northern Syria. (Türkiye-Syria-YPG)

ISLAMABAD -- Seven people, including security personnel, were killed in an attack in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, official sources said.

MANILA -- Three women have been killed after their motorcycle collided with a van in southern Philippines, a local official said Saturday.
