PARIS, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Led by South Korean esports legend Lee Sang-hyeok, known by his in-game ID "Faker," T1 booked a final meeting of the 2024 League of Legends World Championship (S14) with BLG, an LPL team.
This is the first time an all-Chinese roster has reached the final since 2013, when Royal Club (RYL) lost to Faker's SKT in the title match. T1 defeated fellow LCK team Gen.G 3-1 in the semifinals on Sunday to reach its third consecutive appearance in the tournament's final.
This is only the second time in League of Legends history that a team has reached the Worlds final three years in a row, with the first being Faker's former team, SKT (the predecessor of T1).
As the undisputed "GOAT" (Greatest of All Time) in League of Legends, the 28-year-old Faker will make his seventh career appearance in a World Championship final. Across his previous six finals, he has led his team to victory on four occasions.
The final is scheduled to take place on November 2 at London's O2 Arena. Enditem
