TOKYO -- Japan's government and ruling coalition are arranging to convene a special Diet session to vote on the prime minister post on Nov. 11, Kyodo News reported Monday.

BANGKOK -- Thailand is set to roll out a new biometric identification system across its six major airports, aiming to provide passengers with a more efficient and convenient travel experience, the Airport of Thailand (AOT) said on Monday.

Starting from November, domestic passengers can enroll in the automated biometric identification system, which uses facial recognition technology to verify passenger identity, while the system will be fully operational for international travelers from December, said AOT President Kirati Kitmanawat. TIRIN KOT, Afghanistan -- At least eight passengers lost their lives after a vehicle carrying them from a wooden bridge plunged into a river in southern Afghanistan's Uruzgan province, provincial authorities said on Monday.

The accident occurred on Monday at 3:00 a.m. local time when the wooden bridge broke due to heavy weight on the outskirts of the province's Gayzab district, Agha Wali Qurishi, provincial director of information and culture, told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Road Accident)

PHNOM PENH -- Vietnam Airlines has launched its non-stop flights between Cambodia's Phnom Penh and Vietnam's Hanoi, said its press release on Monday.

The inaugural flight took off from Phnom Penh International Airport on Sunday evening and landed at Noi Bai International Airport on the same day, the press release said, adding that the non-stop flying time is only 1 hour 55 minutes. (Cambodia-Vietnam-Flight) Enditem
